The retention is tied to the repository and it CANNOT be changed after you set it. The product is still lacking in comparison to B&R in terms of scheduling and how you setup your retention. It's telling me it can't access SharePoint/OneDrive even though my service account has permissions but I haven't bothered to troubleshoot that yet. So, I have v3.0 installed now and have tested it with my mailbox for email specifically and so far so good. So if your retention is 6 months, it won't backup any O365 items older than 6 months.Īfter enough complaints on the forum, Veeam took their head out of their ass and v3.0 now has a traditional retention model that is based on the backup snapshot, so that 6 months retention now means to keep any backup snapshots that are 6 months old or newer. I installed v2.0 last week and immediately found it to be completely useless because the only retention option in v2.0 is to keep files based on the modified date of the item inside of the backup, not the backup snapshot itself. There is 1 post in the Veeam community about the beta, that's about all you get. V3.0 went GA 2 days ago, so there isn't going to be much feedback yet.
